Radishes
Radishes (fire candle variety) would have to be one of the easiest things that we’ve grown and can give an interesting zest and spice for your drinks or meals. Nutritionally, they contain a good amount of vitamin C (23mg/100g) and decent amounts of folate (25ug/100g), calcium (25mg/100g), magnesium (9mg/100g), and zinc (0.2mg/100g). See here for the full nutritional profile.
As they are most commonly used in salads, I thought I’d try something a little different and see how it went as a juice. I mixed it with lemon juice and really enjoyed it, especially as an alternative to the regular lemon flavour we all know and love. See below for the recipe if you’d like to try to make your own:
Radish and Lemon Juice (serves 1)
Ingredients:
1 radish (10g)
1/4 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup of water
2-3 ice cubes (optional)
1 tsp maple syrup or other sweetener (optional)
Method:
Add all ingredients to blender and mix away!
I hope you enjoy it! ☺️💜
